Dear Emma,
It seems hard to admit that it's now been one year since your Mommy and Daddy brought you into the world. From that first moment I saw you I fell deeply in love with you. Every day I've been blessed to have you be part of my life so that I can watch you grow. I'm constantly amazed at what you're doing at just one year old. You are walking all over the place, climbing stairs and coming back down them, opening drawers and even the refrigerator. You pretend play with your little kitchen with me and we eat "soup" as we play. You even offer to share with me. Although you don't say many words, you are finding a way to make your wants known. You also have quite a little temper when you don't get what you want. But as you grow hopefully you will understand that it's all out of the love I have for you to keep you always safe.
I love our snuggle time together and how your face lights up when you first see me each day. I hope that never changes and we always have a close relationship. I will always be here for you to come to no matter what it might be. I hope that life has minimal bumps in it for you (yes, unfortunately, everyone has bumps) and that you'll always be our sweet little girl. Your smile can light up a room and your giggles make us smile. Your beauty shines no matter where we go.
Happy 1st Birthday, my dear Emma. May you always be blessed and happy from the tip of your head down to those beautiful little piggies I so love. You give my life new meaning and I can't imagine not having you and sharing your joy.
I LOVE YOU, EMMA MARIE! Happy Birthday!

Emma
Emma Marie made her appearance in the world at 7:41 a.m. today. She weighed 9 lbs 3 oz and is 20 inches long. She's got really chubby cheeks and legs and is just BEAUTIFUL! I am TOTALLY head over heels in love with her. We all are.
Mom and Dad are doing well. Zach stayed at the hospital tonight to help Amy. We're exhausted but here's a few quick pics

A LONG day
Today shortly after 11 a.m. my son texted me to tell me he and Amy were on the way to the hospital. He'd taken her to her doctor appointment and told them of the cramping she's been having so the doctor examined her and sent her off to be monitored. When I found them on the labor and delivery floor, they were hooking up the baby monitor and another monitor to measure if she was having contractions. The nurses were wonderful at telling us what was happening. After they let her eat, told us she wasn't having contractions and then the results came back from a test they'd done before I got there that she wasn't going to go into labor in the next few weeks. The nurse explained that this test can measure somehow whether you will or not. So we were all very relieved and appreciated the prayers of the friends we had told. I promptly came home and fell asleep exhausted. Woke up in time to go to Weight Watchers where I lost another 2 pounds this past week. YAY! That's 147 now. It's been a very long evening tonight but we're thankful to be spending it here at home and not at the hospital. With Thanksgiving just days away, we can't think of anything we have to be more thankful for than our family and friends. Thank YOU for being a real blessing in my life even if you just stop in to read occasionally and don't comment.

It's a ................
GIRL!!!
My son and his girlfriend went today for another sonogram (the 4th one) and today they were able to tell it was a GIRL! I was with them and it was an overwhelming feeling watching the heart beat knowing this was my grandchild. They haven't been able to tell previously what sex she was because she had her legs crossed. I guess she was waiting to show me. :-) They still couldn't see her arteries going into her heart so Amy will have to get a more specialized sonogram done but the doctor said it was nothing to worry about. They are obviously working since her heart is beating (another awesome experience!) We have some 4d pics that they took today too. AWESOME!
