Questions on Friday

1. Is there a special dish you prepare that you are famous for?  I cook most of the dishes for Thanksgiving and nothing out of the ordinary.  This year I had to throw away 2 pumpkin pies because after I made them I found out the pumpkin had been recalled and I didn't want to chance anyone getting sick.  About made me sick to have to pitch them and make 2 new ones.  On ordinary days, I try making new things all the time for our family to try out so there's not one particular thing I'm famous for.  But I do have to say...whatever I take they almost always really like.

2. Are you (did you) go Black Friday shopping ?  I did go.  Left the house before 9:30 p.m. with Amy and my youngest sister and we arrived back home around 7 a.m. this morning.  Had a really rough start at Walmart but then hit pay dirt at Target and just kept going.  Had breakfast in there too which used to be a tradition when my youngest sister and another sister and I would go out together.  I missed my other sister but she lives in Indy now so we texted for a while last night but it's just not the same.  Got a good start on my shopping but have a lot to do yet!

3. What are your strangest holiday traditions?  I can't think of anything strange we do.  We're a pretty ordinary family.

4. Pecan or pumpkin pie? (She actually asked "Apple or pumpkin?" I just T-giving'ed it!) I don't like pecan so that would never be a good choice so pumpkin wins.  It would have been really close if it had been apple or pumpkin.  2 of my favorites.

5. When will you put up your Christmas tree?  Usually the Sunday after Thanksgiving but we'll be helping the kids move tomorrow so I'm not sure we'll have the umph left to do it but let's hope so.  I like getting it done so we can focus on shopping in our spare time.

So that's it for this week.  Hop on over to My Little Life for the questions so you can play along too.  It's fun.  Honest.

5Q Weekend

I'm going to have to call these questions weekend since I can't seem to get here Friday.  Though last night I was stamping at Kim's so I have a good reason :-)
Pick up the questions yourself at My Little Life

Have an awesome weekend.  I'm feeling under the weather so will be laid back one for me.

1. Do you have a go to song that always puts you in a good mood?  No, I love music so just about any song can do this.  I love Christmas music too so this is an awesome time of the year.

2. Are you a real Christmas tree kinda person or do you go with a real fake one?  I've never had a real one since my hubby is allergic to them.  Fake it is.  Less mess I think too....so I'll take it

3. What are you thankful for?  Time with my beautiful granddaughter and family.  My parents good health.  Sisters and family to love.  Wonderful friends who always make me smile.  A job to pay the bills (which I like most days!  lol)  MANY things!

4. Which fashion fad from the past do you wish you could wear today?  Bell bottoms.  For some reason I just LOVED those pants but they would look awful on me today.

5. Do you wait until the "low fuel" light comes on before you fill up the gas tank?  Well, I try to pay attention but it's hard because I don't pass any gas stations on my way to work so usually the light is on before I make an effort to get gas.

Questions on Saturday

Take a few minutes and head to My Little Life and see others fun answers and to grab the questions yourself to tell us the answers.  It's so much fun.

1. What's the last thing you spent too much money on?  Well, that happened yesterday when I took a personal day and went shopping with Amy and Emma.  I bought Emma a pair of Ugg boots.  They are so stinkin' cute on her though I couldn't resist.  So we got them a bit big so hopefully she gets more wear out of them.  Already today when she came to my house her Mom had them on her.  :-)

2. What celeb chef would you want to make you dinner?  I don't honestly know.  A lot of those chefs use ingredients that I'd not eat. For being so fat, I'm a very picky eater.  Yes, I did say I'm fat and one of these days I'll blog about that again too.  Too many head issues to go into now but I'm working on it.

3. Where do you hide things when visitors pop over or do you let them see the real deal?  We put everything up on our bed in our bedroom but I am a strong believer in that you better come to see me and not my house.  You are ALWAYS welcome in my house but don't judge if I'm in my jammies or the house is dirty.  It happens.

4. Who is your oldest living family member?  My hubby's Grandmother who just turned 94 but unfortunately she has Dementia and doesn't remember anyone anymore and we've not seen her in a long while.  She's such a sweetie too.  I will always treasure when she came to our house one of the last times and was asking who my Dad was and as I explained patiently, she looked at me and said...I won't ever forget you Denise...but I know she has and it makes me so sad.

5. What is your favorite DQ treat and/or Sonic drink combo (ie: cherry vanilla dr. pepper)?  I have never gone to Sonic even though we do have one so I can't pick something there.  My favorite DQ treat would be a Peanut Buster Parfait and yes, I had one recently.  Now see part of why I'm fat again from above question...*sigh*

Five Question Friday

1. What movie do you love to quote?  Well, my favorite movie is Ghost and I love the line at the end where Patrick says the love...you take it with you.  Gets me every time.  I don't quote it...but it's a quote I know.

2. Have you ever ridden a motorcycle?  Heck no.  I've always been too fat to ride on one.  Where would I fit???

3. What's your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?  Lay on the couch and watch tv mindlessly....but does it happen?  Rarely....and I'd not change a second of it because it means I'm spending time with Ms. Emma :-)

4. Do you prefer a bunch of small gifts, or one really big, (expensive) gift?  As much as I love expensive gifts (read diamonds) I have to say I love a bunch of small gifts.  I always said I'd rather have 10 one dollar gifts than 1 ten dollar gift.

5. Do you ever lose track of days and show up somewhere wrong?  My iPhone calendar keeps me pretty on track....well, me and the rest of my family.  So I try to be pretty with it when I'm keeping track of times and activities.

Hook yourself up with these questions at My Little Life.  Fun times :-)
Happy Weekend.   It's a very busy one here.

Jump Start

1. Do you prefer cotton, silk, or flannel sheets?  Actually I like my sheets that are the jersey material.  They are soft and I never have to worry about them popping off the bed.  What a pain those garters are to put on and with the jersey type, I don't need them.

2. What time zone are you in?  Eastern

3. What is your favorite part of the holiday season? The time you get off work and get to spend with family.

4. What is your favorite "wintry" drink? (It doesn't have to be an "alcoholic" drink!)  Hot chocolate with mini marshmallows.  Don't forget them!

5. In your opinion, what is the worst job in the world? Garbage man.  I couldn't stomach the smells day in and day out.  Especially on those really hot days.  ICK!

Play along with me.  As you can see, the questions were quick and simple today so go to My Little Life to get them.  :-)

Are you Joining in???

1. Where do you escape to when you've had enough?  I tend to escape from the world when I've had enough.  I don't go anywhere and I basically just sit and veg on the couch.  When I've had enough with my family I escape to my bedroom but haven't done that for a good while especially since it's just hubby and I living here now.

2. What shows are you watching this fall?  Oh some very good ones....but nothing new that I can think of.  I really enjoy Castle, Parenthood, Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives.  I'm still addicted to House Hunters too.  I love living through all these people to see the many places they shoot whether here in the USA or out of country.

3. What was the longest roadtrip you've ever taken and where did you go?  Furthest I've ever driven would be out to my sister's house in Indy.  Oh wait...it's further for us when we go to Myrtle Beach so I guess that one wins instead of my sister's house.  13 hours to MB is a real killer but SO worth it!

4. Do you plan on taking your kids to Disney World?  Kid...one...have taken him twice when he was quite young.  Can you say stupid?  He doesn't remember.  He was about 5 and then 6 or something like that.  My brother in law used to be able to get us stand by tickets and we flew really cheap so it was a last minute decision.  The first year we went for 3 days.  Definitely NOT long enough.  We spent 16 hours in Magic Kingdom trying to get it all in.  Then the following year we decided to go for 5 days but we lost a day in airports and another in changing hotels.  I've never gone to Animal Kingdom or Epcot so that's my goal.  I plan on taking Emma when she's a little older.  :-)

5. What is something people would surprised to know about you?  Let me see....surprised....gee....that's tough because I'm such an open book.  Most people are surprised to hear that I was accepted to college for computers but the summer we went for freshman orientation I changed my mind and told my Mom I wanted to do special education.  When I've had a really rough day my Mom says "You should have stayed with computers" but after 25 years of teaching it still warms my heart when a kid "gets it" and you see it on their face.

Happy Weekend to all.  Are you playing along with the questions yet?  If not, how come?  It's so much fun.  Join in and get the questions HERE
