With the 4th of July holiday quickly coming up, I thought I'd share a place I like to go to during this holiday. The Westmoreland Arts & Heritage Festival is always held during this time. You can go from July 3-6 this year. It's held at Twin Lakes Park in Greensburg, PA. The hours are 11-8. It's recommended that you ride the shuttle which is $2 round trip from the University of Pitt at Greensburg.
This is one of my all time favorite summer things to do. One of my best friends, her daughters and I usually drive out (yes, there is parking nearby but it's hit or miss.) We spend the day making sure everyone gets to see what they want to, listen to the music they like and eat what they want. There is such a variety that we all go away happy. The festival is spread out over the grounds and there are some really awesome arts and crafts vendors. You can always find some unique things and your typical favorites. If you have young children they will even be happy with a visit to the Kid's Area. They have all kinds of neat things to do there for the younger ones. The music is in different places also and we always make sure to check out several of the acts. There is even a main "floating stage" on one of the lakes. The food....oh what can I say.....it's going to be a day that's difficult to stay on my Weight Watchers!
Check it out and take your family. Admission is free. Lastly, pray the rain stays away!
